At Romygo, we are building more than just a transportation network; we are building a reliable, secure, and respectful ecosystem for all of Romania. These expanded Community Guidelines serve as the definitive code of conduct for every Rider and Driver on our platform.
By detailing our expectations, we ensure that every participant understands their rights and responsibilities. Access to the Romygo platform is a privilege, and strict adherence to these guidelines is mandatory.
1. Mutual Respect and Professional Boundaries
The Romygo community thrives on diversity and mutual respect. Every person in the vehicle is entitled to a safe, comfortable, and professional environment.
1.1. Absolute Non-Discrimination
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination. Drivers and Riders may not refuse service, cancel rides, or exhibit derogatory behavior based on a person's race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, gender identity, or age.
1.2. Physical Contact and Sexual Misconduct
There must be absolutely no unwanted physical contact between Drivers and Riders. Sexual misconduct or harassment of any kind—including unsolicited flirting, making comments about a person's appearance, asking overly personal questions, or requesting a romantic relationship—will result in immediate and permanent removal from the platform.
1.3. Verbal Conduct and De-escalation
Aggressive, threatening, or abusive language is strictly prohibited. If a disagreement arises regarding a route or a drop-off location, both parties are expected to remain calm and professional. If a situation escalates, the Driver has the right to pull over in a safe location and end the ride, and both parties should report the incident to Romygo Support immediately.
2. Comprehensive Safety and Security
Physical safety is our paramount concern. We expect all users to prioritize safety above convenience or speed.
2.1. Strict Adherence to Traffic Laws
Drivers must strictly obey all Romanian traffic laws (Codul Rutier). This includes adhering to posted speed limits, obeying traffic signals, utilizing turn signals, and completely abstaining from texting or handling a mobile phone while the vehicle is in motion. Phone mounts must be used for navigation.
2.2. Seatbelts and Child Safety
Romanian law mandates that all vehicle occupants must wear seatbelts. Riders must buckle up immediately upon entering the vehicle. If a Rider is traveling with a young child or infant, the Rider is solely responsible for providing and properly installing an appropriate, legally compliant child safety seat. Drivers must refuse the ride if a child seat is required by law but not provided.
2.3. Zero Tolerance for Intoxicants
Drivers are strictly forbidden from consuming alcohol, illegal drugs, or any medication that impairs driving ability while operating on the platform. Similarly, Riders may not bring open containers of alcohol into the vehicle or consume illegal substances during a ride. Drivers must refuse service to passengers who are excessively intoxicated to the point of being a danger to themselves or the Driver.
2.4. Weapons and Dangerous Goods
Firearms, explosives, corrosive chemicals, and other dangerous weapons are strictly prohibited in any vehicle operating on the Romygo platform. This policy applies regardless of whether the user possesses a legal permit to carry such items.
3. Protecting the Ride Environment
The vehicle is the Driver's personal property and their professional workspace. It must be treated with care and respect.
3.1. Vehicle Care, Cleanliness, and Damage
Riders must not leave trash behind, spill food or drinks, or damage the vehicle's interior or exterior. If a Rider causes significant damage or a mess that requires professional cleaning (e.g., bodily fluids, major food spills), Romygo will charge the Rider a cleaning or repair fee, which is passed entirely to the Driver to cover their lost time and expenses.
3.2. Accurate Passenger Limits
Riders must request the appropriate vehicle tier for the size of their party. A Driver cannot legally or safely transport more passengers than the vehicle has functioning seatbelts for. Attempting to cram extra passengers into a vehicle is a severe safety violation.
4. Accessibility and Accommodations
Romygo is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to everyone in the community.
4.1. Mandatory Service Animal Accommodation
In accordance with Romanian and European Union laws, Drivers must welcome Riders traveling with certified service animals. Drivers cannot refuse a ride, cancel a trip, or charge extra cleaning fees for shedding related to a recognized service animal. Refusing a service animal is grounds for immediate deactivation.
4.2. Assistive Devices
Drivers are expected to safely accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and other assistive devices that can reasonably fit within the trunk or cabin of the vehicle. Drivers should offer reasonable assistance with storing these items if requested by the Rider.
5. Privacy, Data, and Technology Use
Protecting user privacy is essential for maintaining trust on the platform.
5.1. Post-Ride Contact
Once a ride is completed, all communication must cease. Riders and Drivers are strictly prohibited from contacting each other via phone, text, or social media after the trip ends. If a Rider leaves a lost item in the vehicle, all communication must be facilitated through the Romygo app's official lost-and-found channels.
5.2. Audio and Video Recording (Dashcams)
We recognize that many Drivers in Romania use dashcams for safety and insurance purposes. However, users must comply with all local GDPR privacy laws regarding recording. If a Driver uses a dashcam that records audio or video of the passenger cabin, they must declare this to the Rider (e.g., via a visible sticker or a notification). Broadcasting, publishing, or sharing any recording of a Rider on social media or digital platforms without their explicit consent is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.
6. Platform Integrity and Fraud Prevention
Honesty and transparency are required to keep the Romygo ecosystem functioning efficiently.
6.1. Account Verification and Unaccompanied Minors
Your Romygo account is for your personal use only. You may not share your login credentials or allow anyone else to use your account to request rides or drive. Riders must be at least 18 years old. If a Driver suspects a Rider is an unaccompanied minor, the Driver must request a valid ID and cancel the trip if the Rider is under 18.
6.2. Fraudulent Activity
Any form of fraud is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: creating duplicate accounts, artificially manipulating GPS locations, intentionally taking inefficient routes to increase fares, abusing referral or promotional codes, and submitting false damage reports or fraudulent cleaning fee claims.
7. Incident Reporting and Enforcement
We actively monitor the platform and rely on our community to help us enforce these standards.
7.1. Thorough Investigations
If you experience or witness a violation of these guidelines, you must report it immediately through the Romygo app. Our dedicated Trust and Safety team reviews all reports impartially. During an investigation, Romygo may temporarily suspend the accounts of the parties involved to ensure platform safety.
7.2. Law Enforcement Cooperation
We take illegal activity incredibly seriously. In cases of assault, theft, severe traffic violations, or other criminal acts, Romygo will permanently deactivate the offending user and fully cooperate with Romanian law enforcement agencies, providing all necessary digital evidence, GPS records, and user data in accordance with the law to ensure justice and community safety.
